playing a Mastermind Hunt
By solving a series of fun and challenging clues, teams find their way from parks, to landmarks, to often-overlooked spots, racing to see who will be the first to solve the clues, find secret locations, and win the day.
General logistics: Your group will meet us at a specified location like a park or plaza, and we will give you a mission briefing, rules of the game, and pass out clue packets before kicking off the hunt. We suggest that groups be divided into teams of four or five before the day of the event. Our events take between two and three hours to run (including the rules briefing at the top, and winner's announcements at the end), and we have found that finishing at a nearby restaurant or pub is often a perfect wrap up, as players love to exchange stories about their experiences. The endpoint can be at a location of your choosing within the playing area, or we can simply wrap up the game at the start point too.
Clues can involve brain teasers, wordplay, logic puzzles, trivia, or simple code-breaking. Each clue leads to a location within walking distance of the start point, where players must find and use a vital piece of information embedded in the environment to answer a question. Clues may be solved in any order and the team that arrives at the end point first with the greatest number of correct clues is declared the winner.
We provide everything players need to play and take photos of your teams in the field. Smartphones can be used to look up information, but most puzzles are solved using pencil and paper.
